Australia posted a competitive 231-9 in the Australia vs Pakistan second ODI after Cameron Green and Josh Inglis produced important half-centuries at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday. Pakistan had won the toss and elected to field, hoping to build on their victory in the opening match of the series.
The visitors faced early trouble when opener Alex Carey was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi with the very first ball of the innings. Australia’s top order continued to struggle as spinners quickly made an impact on a dry surface, reducing the tourists to 51-3.
With Australia under pressure, Josh Inglis and Cameron Green combined to stabilize the innings. The pair added a valuable partnership that helped Australia recover after the early setbacks and prevented Pakistan from taking complete control of the contest.
Inglis played a composed knock of 51 from 74 deliveries, striking five boundaries during his innings. His half-century provided much-needed stability before he was eventually dismissed by spinner Arafat Minhas in the middle overs.
Green continued to anchor the innings and registered his third ODI fifty. The all-rounder scored 53 from 92 balls and later shared a crucial 65-run partnership with Matthew Renshaw, who contributed 43 runs to the total.
Australia received additional support from Oliver Peake, whose quickfire 31 off 32 deliveries added momentum in the closing stages. His innings included two sixes and a boundary, helping the visitors push beyond the 230-run mark.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi was the standout bowler with figures of 3-36, while Arafat Minhas claimed two wickets. The Australia vs Pakistan second ODI now sets up an intriguing chase as Pakistan looks to secure another victory and strengthen its position in the series.
