Qatar New Driving License Rules

Qatar Announces New Driving License Rules and Requirements

In a major update, Doha authorities have clarified the process for obtaining a Qatar driving license, making it easier for applicants to understand requirements and procedures. The announcement was made by Ministry of Interior Qatar through official channels.

According to the statement, applicants must submit valid identification documents along with a recent photograph. A medical examination is also mandatory, which includes vision and general health assessments to ensure the applicant is fit to drive safely.

Additionally, all applicants are required to present a valid residence permit before initiating the process. This requirement ensures that only legally residing individuals can apply for a Qatar driving license, aligning with the country’s regulatory framework.

The ministry has set the minimum age at 18 years for light vehicles, motorcycles, and licenses for people with special needs. For heavy vehicles, machinery, and public transport categories, the minimum age requirement has been fixed at 21 years.

Applicants must enroll in an approved driving school where they will complete both theoretical and practical training. Passing all required driving tests is compulsory. Once successful, individuals can obtain their Qatar driving license either through their driving school’s traffic office or via online platforms such as Metrash2 and the official Ministry of Interior website.
