The government has announced new timings for markets and malls, enforcing an early closure nationwide. The main focus is on controlling business hours for all commercial areas, including shopping malls, department stores, and daily-use shops. This directive ensures a uniform closing time across Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on petroleum products and related economic issues, during which the decision was finalized. Officials emphasized the importance of implementing the new schedule starting April 7.
According to the Prime Minister’s office statement, all shops, department stores, and malls must close by 8 PM. This measure targets non-essential commercial operations while ensuring public convenience during evening hours.
The announcement also included specific timings for food-related businesses. Bakeries, restaurants, tandoors, and food stalls will operate until 10 PM, providing ample time for residents to access essential food services without disruption.
Marriage halls and private event venues will also follow the 10 PM cutoff, including gatherings at private properties and homes. This move is aimed at regulating social events while maintaining safety and consistency with commercial timings.
Medical stores and pharmacies have been exempted from these restrictions. Their extended hours are crucial to ensure access to medicines and emergency health services without interruption.
The government’s nationwide plan for adjusted business hours aims to standardize commercial operations, support public safety, and improve energy management. Citizens are advised to follow these timings starting April 7 to comply with the new regulations.
