A former Indian military officer has praised the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan for playing a constructive and neutral role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States.
According to reports, retired Indian Major General Yeshpal More acknowledged that Pakistan’s balanced approach helped it gain trust from multiple sides during a sensitive geopolitical situation.
He stated that Pakistan maintained a clear non-aligned stance throughout recent regional tensions and actively contributed to de-escalation efforts. He credited Pakistan’s leadership, including Field Marshal Asim Munir, for playing a key role in shaping this diplomatic posture.
The former general also noted that Pakistan’s consistent position, including its condemnation of attacks on Iran and its opposition to regional escalation, strengthened its credibility as a mediator.
He further highlighted that Pakistan’s diplomatic representatives at the United Nations also voiced concern over regional conflicts, including criticism of Israeli military actions in Lebanon, reinforcing its stance on international peace.
Meanwhile, political observers in India say that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have faced criticism domestically for their relatively muted response to recent Iran-US tensions.
Analysts across Indian media have also increasingly acknowledged Pakistan’s emerging role as a diplomatic facilitator, describing it as a notable shift in regional foreign policy dynamics.
The development is being viewed as an important recognition of Pakistan’s growing influence in conflict mediation and its attempt to position itself as a constructive regional actor.
