Pakistani actress Ainy Jaffri, along with Hassan Khan, will present the one-act play Rukhsati at London’s Tara Theatre from April 23 to 25. Written by Saqib Deshmukh, the story follows Nighat (Jaffri) and Tariq (Khan), two old friends who unexpectedly meet in a wedding hall restroom.
As they reminisce about their shared past, present struggles and unspoken emotions emerge. Nighat expresses her frustrations over not having children, while Tariq faces challenges as a father and husband. The conversation escalates until Tariq admits he wants to rekindle their lost romance, creating tension and awkwardness.
Jaffri described the play on Instagram as “intimate, layered, and very close to the bone,” adding it speaks to anyone who has experienced unresolved relationships. She explained that Nighat is “shaped by memory, love, resentment, and everything we don’t say out loud.”
