Sahibzada Farhan starred for Multan Sultans on Wednesday, scoring an unbeaten 106 to guide his team to a thrilling six-wicket win over Hyderabad Kingsmen in the Pakistan Super League. The Sultans chased a challenging 226-run target with eight balls to spare.
Farhan’s innings included eight sixes and seven fours, culminating in a towering six to seal the victory. His knock overshadowed aggressive half-centuries from Maaz Sadaqat and Sharjeel Khan, who had earlier propelled Kingsmen to a competitive total of 225.
Sadaqat raced to 62 off just 26 balls, including five sixes, while Sharjeel made a strong comeback with 51 not out off 26 deliveries. Despite their efforts, Kingsmen fell short in defending the total.
The Sultans’ chase began at a rapid pace, with Farhan and Steven Smith forming a strong opening partnership. The duo added 100 runs in just 7.1 overs, the third century stand of the season, putting Sultans in control early.
Fielding lapses by Kingsmen, including a missed catch off Farhan and a failed stumping of Shan Masood, allowed Sultans to maintain momentum. Farhan further dominated, hitting 21 runs in one over off Marnus Labuschagne, bringing the target within reach quickly.
Even after Smith’s dismissal, Farhan maintained the tempo, consistently finding boundaries to ensure Sultans stayed ahead of the required run rate. His composure guided the team to a comfortable victory with an over to spare.
The win strengthens Multan Sultans’ position at the top of the PSL table, keeping their unbeaten record intact. Farhan dedicated his performance to his parents, highlighting the role of their prayers in his success. Meanwhile, Hyderabad Kingsmen face challenges to bounce back after three consecutive defeats.
