At least 25 people have died and dozens more injured due to heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 25, authorities confirmed on Thursday. The province has faced severe flooding and numerous rain-related incidents during this period.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported extensive damage, with 77 houses affected and 33 completely destroyed. Districts most impacted include Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Karak.
Rescue 1122 teams have been dispatched to provide emergency assistance. They are helping affected families with medical care, temporary shelters, and relief supplies in areas cut off by floods and rain-related damage.
The PDMA has issued alerts for continued rainfall across the province. Weather forecasts indicate that the wet spell may persist until April 4, urging residents to remain cautious and prepared for further impacts.
Local authorities are also working to clear debris and restore road access to remote areas. Efforts are ongoing to ensure that essential services, including healthcare and food supplies, reach all affected communities.
Heavy rains have been accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also in Balochistan and parts of Sindh, including Karachi. PDMA Balochistan reported seven deaths due to rain-related incidents.
Residents are advised to avoid low-lying areas and stay updated with official weather alerts. The government and emergency teams continue to monitor the situation closely, aiming to prevent further casualties and support affected families.
