India has issued its first formal reaction to the escalating India Middle East crisis response, as the Modi government faces increasing domestic and international criticism over its silence on the ongoing regional situation.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs expressed concern over the rising civilian casualties in Lebanon, marking a significant shift in the country’s India Middle East crisis response policy stance.
Without directly naming Israel, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that large-scale loss of life in Lebanon is deeply worrying and stressed the importance of respecting international law, sovereignty, and national security.
He added that India considers the evolving situation in the region “highly concerning,” especially given its participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions and its long-standing interest in stability, shaping its India Middle East crisis response approach.
The statement comes amid growing global alarm over intensified violence in Lebanon, where recent developments have further escalated tensions across the Middle East.
Reports suggest that despite ceasefire claims in other areas, Lebanon has witnessed some of the most severe airstrikes in recent days, worsening the humanitarian crisis.
According to civil defense authorities, hundreds have been killed and over a thousand injured, intensifying international pressure and influencing the broader India Middle East crisis response debate.
