Iran welcomes regional peace efforts

Tehran, March 30, 2026: Iran has welcomed peace initiatives by regional countries while cautioning that proposals must be realistic. The statement affects US-Iran relations and regional diplomacy, as Tehran continues exchanging messages with Washington through intermediaries.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ebrahim Baghai said no direct talks have taken place with the United States. He added that most suggestions presented to Iran are “unrealistic, unreasonable, and excessive,” reflecting Tehran’s cautious approach toward negotiations.

Baghai emphasized that Iran will protect its citizens everywhere and expects the United Arab Emirates to act prudently regarding Iranian nationals. He warned against actions that could escalate tensions in the region.

The spokesperson confirmed Iran’s ambassador in Beirut will continue official duties in Lebanon. He also rejected claims linking the Ukraine conflict to a US-Israel war against Iran, calling the connection a “dangerous misunderstanding.”

The remarks came after a meeting in Islamabad where foreign ministers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan discussed ongoing mediation efforts in the Middle East. Tehran described these initiatives as “welcome” but stressed the need for practical and cautious evaluation of all proposals.
