Lahore Qalandars add Ryan Burl to squad

Lahore Qalandars secured Zimbabwean all-rounder Ryan Burl just hours before the start of the 11th Pakistan Super League (PSL). The team announced Burl as their 20th player, boosting squad depth ahead of today’s opening match against Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen. His addition strengthens both the batting and bowling lineups for the marquee tournament.

Burl, a regular in Zimbabwean cricket over the past nine years, will fly directly to Lahore to join the squad. The Qalandars confirmed on X that he will immediately integrate into team preparations. His international experience is expected to provide valuable stability and versatility.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer Asif Ali shared his continued dedication to the Qalandars despite retiring from international cricket. He described the franchise as a “family” and affirmed his readiness to assist wherever required. Asif highlighted his eight-year association with Islamabad and expressed pride in contributing to domestic cricket.

The Qalandars’ management noted that the squad currently has no head coach, reflecting a collective team approach. Asif Ali also mentioned he remains available for national duties if Pakistan’s team seeks his expertise. His presence offers mentorship to younger and emerging players.

Today, the Qalandars will face Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen in the PSL 11 opener. Fans will be watching closely to see how Burl adapts and impacts Lahore’s campaign in the tournament.
