A major shipment of KitKat chocolate bars has been stolen in Europe, raising concerns about potential shortages in stores just before the busy Easter season.
The brand, owned by Swiss food giant Nestlé, confirmed that a truck carrying 413,793 units of its latest chocolate range went missing during transit.
According to the company, the stolen shipment weighed approximately 12 tonnes and vanished last week while being transported between production and distribution centers.
The truck had departed from central Italy and was en route to Poland, with plans to distribute the products across multiple European countries.
Nestlé warned that the theft could disrupt supply chains and lead to shortages of KitKat bars on store shelves ahead of Easter.

The company acknowledged that consumers may find it difficult to purchase their favorite chocolate treats during the peak holiday period.
The company stated that both the truck and its cargo remain unaccounted for. Investigations are ongoing in collaboration with local authorities and supply chain partners.
Officials are working to determine the exact location where the shipment disappeared and to recover the stolen goods.
Nestlé also warned that the stolen products could appear in unofficial or unauthorized sales channels across Europe.
To address this, the company said each chocolate bar carries a unique batch code that can be scanned to identify whether it is part of the stolen shipment.
