Rainfall continued across Punjab over the past 24 hours, with Murree rainfall recording the highest at 48mm, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported on Saturday. Other areas also saw significant precipitation, highlighting ongoing wet conditions.
In southern Punjab, Fort Munro received 40mm of rain, Vehova 11mm, and in Rawalpindi, Shamsabad recorded 40mm, Chaklala 35mm, and Kattarian 31mm. Attock saw 35mm, Faisalabad 33mm, and Sargodha 25mm.
Northern and central Punjab cities, including Gujrat, Mangla, Joharabad, and Chakwal, experienced rainfall ranging from 21mm to 24mm. Lahore recorded lighter showers with 8mm at the airport and 3mm in the city.
The PDMA has urged citizens to remain cautious during thunderstorms, lightning, and hail, instructing relevant departments to stay alert and prepared for emergency response.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued an early warning for Karachi, noting that a westerly wave is likely to enter Balochistan from April 5. Rain is expected in Sindh on April 6 under the influence of this system.
Wind-thunderstorms with moderate to heavy isolated rainfall and hail are likely in Sukkur, Kashmore, and Ghotki, while light to moderate rain is expected in Karachi, Jamshoro, Dadu, Hyderabad, and other districts. Strong winds and lightning may damage vulnerable structures.
A tornadic waterspout was also observed recently off Karachi’s coast, posing risks for fishing vessels. Authorities advise caution and preparedness as weather systems continue to affect southern and northern Pakistan.
