The Foreign Office stated that Pakistan firmly stood with Saudi Arabia and conveyed condolences to the families of the victims. The ministry described the attacks as a serious violation of Saudi sovereignty. Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering support for Saudi security.
Saudi Arabia has faced repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks since February 28, following the US-Israel conflict with Iran. Most of the projectiles were intercepted, but some caused damage to industrial and energy facilities in the eastern region.
Early Tuesday, Saudi authorities intercepted ballistic missiles targeting Jubail, a major industrial hub. Witnesses reported fires at SABIC plants and loud explosions, prompting evacuation of workers from affected areas. Jubail produces steel, petrochemicals, gasoline, and fertilizers.
Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE issued public safety alerts. The bridge connecting Saudi Arabia to Bahrain was briefly closed as a precautionary measure. Authorities acted quickly to prevent casualties and protect key infrastructure.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement last year, pledging mutual response to any aggression. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar noted Pakistan’s diplomatic intervention had helped deter heavier Iranian strikes previously.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Staff Asim Munir held meetings with Saudi leadership. Both sides pledged to work together for regional peace and stability, emphasizing full solidarity during these challenging times.
