Pakistan’s representative at the United Nations Security Council has confirmed that Lebanon is included in the ceasefire understanding between the United States and Iran.
During a recent session of the UN Security Council, the Pakistani envoy stated that the consensus on a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran also incorporates an end to hostilities in Lebanon. This clarification comes amid growing confusion in diplomatic circles.
According to Arab media reports, the Pakistani representative emphasized that the inclusion of Lebanon was clearly part of the agreement. He expressed surprise over the uncertainty surrounding this issue.
The envoy noted that he was unsure why there was confusion regarding Lebanon’s role in the ceasefire. He reiterated that the cessation of violence in Lebanon had been explicitly mentioned in the understanding.
However, he also acknowledged that there is still a lack of clarity about how and when violent activities in Lebanon will come to an end. This indicates that implementation details may still be under discussion.
The development highlights the broader regional implications of the US-Iran ceasefire effort, suggesting that it may extend beyond bilateral tensions to stabilize conflict zones like Lebanon.
