Pakistan secures diesel, jet fuel from Kuwait

Islamabad, March 30, 2026: Kuwait has assured Pakistan of full facilitation for diesel and jet fuel shipments, following disruptions caused by the Strait of Hormuz closure amid the US-Israel-Iran conflict.

The commitment comes after Tehran allowed 20 Pakistani-flagged oil cargoes to pass through the Strait, ensuring critical energy supplies for the country. This move is vital for Pakistan’s energy security and affects millions of consumers nationwide.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi, to discuss bilateral energy cooperation and regional developments.

Malik thanked Kuwait Petroleum Corporation for pledging full support to Pakistani vessels transporting diesel and jet fuel. He also acknowledged Kuwait’s consistent assistance despite global and regional challenges.

Malik emphasized the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and Kuwait, noting that Pakistan has relied on Kuwaiti petroleum products, especially diesel, for more than five decades. He described the relationship as “historic, brotherly, and built on mutual trust,” while stressing the importance of regional peace and stability for all Gulf countries.

The Kuwaiti ambassador praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace, highlighting the government, armed forces, and citizens’ efforts in supporting diplomatic solutions. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to assisting Pakistan during difficult times and commended the country’s leadership in rejecting forceful measures.

Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in energy, and maintain close engagement to expand cooperation in mutually beneficial areas. They also underlined the importance of uninterrupted fuel supplies to support Pakistan’s energy needs and regional stability.
