Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday praised Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach during a call with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He emphasized that building trust is vital to enable effective peace talks and mediation. The exchange comes as escalating tensions in the Middle East continue to threaten regional stability and civilian safety.
During the detailed discussion, both leaders reviewed the ongoing conflict and explored ways to reduce tensions. Pezeshkian acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in supporting peace initiatives. At the same time, Shehbaz strongly condemned continued Israeli attacks, particularly those targeting civilian infrastructure. He expressed solidarity with Iran and offered condolences over the heavy loss of lives.
Moreover, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with key international partners. He said outreach efforts involve the United States, Gulf nations, and other Islamic countries.
These efforts aim to build momentum for dialogue and create conditions for de-escalation. He also noted growing support for Pakistan’s peace-driven approach.
Meanwhile, Islamabad is set to host important diplomatic visits in the coming days. Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt will arrive for high-level talks. These discussions will focus on coordinated strategies to ease tensions and promote regional stability. The visiting leaders are also expected to meet Shehbaz during their stay.
In a statement shared online, Shehbaz thanked the Iranian president for recognizing Pakistan’s role. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace through dialogue and cooperation.
Officials believe sustained diplomatic engagement could open the door for negotiations. However, the situation remains uncertain as regional developments continue to unfold.
