President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan defence strategy is a guarantee of peace and stability in the region. In his message on Youm-e-Takbeer, the president described Pakistan as a responsible and peace-loving nuclear state committed to national security and regional balance.
The president stated that Youm-e-Takbeer symbolizes Pakistan’s invincible defence and national strength. He said the events of May 28, 1998 granted Pakistan strategic autonomy and strengthened the country’s position on the global stage.
President Zardari noted that Pakistan’s nuclear programme was initiated to meet national security requirements. He paid tribute to the scientists, armed forces, and national leadership who contributed to making the country’s defence strong and reliable despite international challenges.
Highlighting the importance of modern warfare, the president said cyber warfare, artificial intelligence, and drone technology will play a key role in future defence systems. He stressed the need for Pakistan to remain technologically prepared to address emerging security threats.
Pakistan defence strategy, according to the president, is based on maintaining peace rather than aggression. He said the country does not hold hostile intentions against any state but possesses the capability to respond effectively to any act of aggression.
The president also praised the resilience shown by Pakistan during difficult periods of sanctions and international pressure. He said the nation successfully protected its interests and upheld its sovereignty through unity, determination, and strategic planning.
Youm-e-Takbeer is observed every year on May 28 to commemorate Pakistan’s successful nuclear tests conducted in Chaghi, Balochistan, in 1998. The tests were carried out in response to India’s nuclear explosions and marked Pakistan’s emergence as the first Islamic nuclear power.
