Federal Budget Proposes Major Funding for Karachi Development Projects

Islamabad: The federal government has proposed substantial allocations for multiple development projects in Karachi in the upcoming national budget, aiming to improve infrastructure, transportation, and public services across the city.

According to budget documents, Rs1.98 billion has been proposed for the Karachi Green Line Bus project. The allocation is expected to support operational improvements and enhance public transport services for daily commuters in the city.

Officials have also proposed funds for infrastructure rehabilitation in several districts of Karachi. Rs260 million has been suggested for development works in District West, while Rs370 million may be allocated for infrastructure restoration in Nazimabad and Liaquatabad.

In addition, Rs350 million has been proposed for development projects in Landhi, Zaman Town, and Korangi. These funds will be used for road repairs, water supply improvements, drainage systems, and playground development in the mentioned areas.

For District Central, Rs45 million has been proposed for road repair, water supply, and drainage infrastructure, while Rs50 million has been suggested for similar development projects in District Korangi and Malir.

Sources indicate that the federal budget may also include new initiatives in Karachi’s health and education sectors. Among the proposed projects is Rs400 million for the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre, along with Rs390 million for the upgradation of the National Research and Fertility Care project.

Furthermore, Rs50 million has been proposed for the establishment of the National University of Nursing in Karachi. If approved, these initiatives are expected to strengthen healthcare education and research facilities in the city.

Officials believe that these proposed allocations could significantly improve Karachi’s urban infrastructure and public services. Once approved, the projects are expected to benefit millions of residents by enhancing transport systems, healthcare access, and essential municipal services across the metropolis.
