AJK Elections 2026

AJK Elections 2026 Scheduled for July 27 as Code of Conduct Takes Effect

The AJK Elections 2026 will be held on July 27, according to an announcement made by Chief Election Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Mughal. The election schedule has officially launched the electoral process in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while a comprehensive code of conduct has immediately come into force across the region.

Election authorities said the measures are designed to ensure a transparent, free, and fair voting process. The implementation of the code of conduct marks an important step toward maintaining neutrality and preventing any undue influence during the election campaign period.

Under the newly enforced rules, all government departments have been prohibited from making fresh appointments or transfers. The restrictions are intended to prevent the misuse of administrative powers and to provide equal opportunities to all political parties and candidates participating in the elections.

Officials have also banned new announcements related to development projects during the election period. Such restrictions are commonly introduced to ensure that public resources are not used to influence voter decisions ahead of polling day.

According to the official election schedule, candidates seeking to contest the AJK Elections 2026 can submit their nomination papers from June 9 to June 19. The nomination phase is expected to attract candidates from major political parties as well as independent contenders.

Chief Election Commissioner Mughal reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting impartial elections. He stated that every candidate and political party would receive a level playing field, while the electoral process would be monitored closely to uphold transparency and credibility.

The upcoming AJK Elections 2026 are expected to draw significant public and political attention as voters prepare to elect representatives for the Legislative Assembly. With the code of conduct now in place, election authorities aim to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and trustworthy democratic process across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
