Pakistan’s parliamentary activities are set to resume as sessions of both the National Assembly and the Senate have been summoned ahead of the presentation of the federal budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. The upcoming meetings are expected to pave the way for important discussions on the country’s economic priorities and financial plans.

President Asif Ali Zardari has convened the sessions of both houses of Parliament on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The decision comes as the government prepares to unveil its budget strategy for the next fiscal year.

According to official details, the National Assembly session has been scheduled for 5:00 PM, while the Senate session will begin at 4:00 PM. Lawmakers are expected to discuss legislative matters and preparations related to the annual budget.

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated through a social media post that the federal budget is likely to be presented in the National Assembly on June 12. The budget announcement is expected to outline the government’s fiscal priorities, revenue targets, and development plans.

The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 will be presented by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. Economic analysts and stakeholders are closely monitoring the budget as it will provide insights into the government’s strategy for economic growth, inflation management, and public spending.

The budget presentation is considered one of the most significant parliamentary events of the year, as it determines allocations for key sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, defense, and social welfare programs. Businesses and investors are also expected to closely review any new taxation and economic measures.
