North Korea says Xi Jinping visit sets “far-reaching blueprint” for ties

North Korea has said that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to Pyongyang produced a “far-reaching blueprint” for future cooperation, highlighting a renewed push to strengthen China North Korea relations at a strategic level.

According to state media KCNA, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Xi Jinping agreed on expanding what they described as “revolutionary friendship” and deepening bilateral cooperation during the high-profile two-day visit.

The report said both leaders expressed satisfaction over their talks and reaffirmed their commitment to developing China North Korea relations into what they called the “most powerful strategic partnership.” The discussions reportedly covered political coordination, party training, and regional stability.

Xi Jinping’s visit included symbolic diplomatic gestures such as touring party institutions and visiting memorials honoring Chinese soldiers from the Korean War. These events were portrayed as reinforcing historical ties between the two countries.

Following the visit, Xi Jinping reportedly wrote to Kim Jong Un, stating that both sides had reached “important common understandings” on issues of mutual interest. Chinese state media also said the meeting helped establish consensus on strengthening cooperation in the new era.

Analysts say the visit reflects Beijing’s effort to reinforce influence over Pyongyang, especially as North Korea continues to deepen ties with Russia. This evolving dynamic adds a new layer to China North Korea relations amid shifting global alliances.

The summit notably made no reference to North Korea’s nuclear program in official summaries, which analysts interpret as a sign of Beijing’s pragmatic approach to regional stability while maintaining strategic engagement with Pyongyang.
