PMD forecasts rain and thunderstorms across Pakistan from June 11

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh Pakistan weather forecast, predicting dust storms, strong winds, rain, and thunderstorms across large parts of the country from June 11 to June 13.

According to the PMD, a westerly weather system is expected to enter the upper regions of Pakistan on June 11 and remain active until June 13, bringing widespread changes in weather conditions.

Under this Pakistan weather forecast, Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to experience rain-thundershowers, dust storms, and in some areas heavy downpours and hailstorms.

The PMD also warned that northeastern Balochistan may receive rain and thunderstorms, while upper Sindh could face dust storms and strong winds during the forecast period.

Officials cautioned that severe weather conditions could damage weak infrastructure, including solar panels, electricity poles, and billboards, due to strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms.

The department further warned that heavy rainfall may trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas of major cities such as Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Faisalabad.

In addition, landslides are possible in mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in areas already vulnerable due to unstable terrain.

Authorities have advised farmers to protect crops and urged citizens, tourists, and travellers to avoid unnecessary movement during the expected weather activity period.
