ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Fatima Zahra has advanced to the women’s 60kg boxing quarterfinals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland after producing a dominant performance against her opponent from Lesotho.
Competing in the preliminary round, Fatima Zahra faced Real Eboha (Realeboha Segoete) of Lesotho and took control of the contest from the opening moments. She displayed superior technique and aggression, consistently landing clean punches while preventing her opponent from settling into the bout.
The referee stopped the contest after Fatima established a clear advantage, awarding the Pakistani boxer victory by referee stoppage. The result secured her place in the last eight of the competition and kept Pakistan’s hopes of winning a boxing medal alive.

Fatima Zahra will now face Jordan Wilson of New Zealand in the quarterfinals, with a place in the semifinals at stake. The bout is expected to be a significant challenge as both boxers aim to move closer to the podium.
Her victory marks another encouraging result for Pakistan’s boxing contingent at the Commonwealth Games, where the national team is competing across several disciplines. Sports observers said Fatima’s confident performance in her opening contest highlighted her strong preparation and boosted expectations ahead of the knockout stages.
The boxing competition at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games is being held at the SEC Centre and runs from July 24 to August 1. Quarterfinal victories will move boxers within touching distance of a medal, making Fatima Zahra’s upcoming contest one of Pakistan’s most closely watched events at the Games.
