Punjab Schools Reopening

Punjab Schools Reopening from April 1, Minister Confirms Five-Day In-Person Classes

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced on Monday that schools across the province will reopen starting April 1. The decision ends the temporary closure of educational institutions from March 10 to 31.

The provincial government had earlier ordered school closures to help ease economic pressure caused by rising petroleum prices amid the ongoing Middle East conflict. The closures affected schools, colleges, and universities throughout Punjab.

The education minister clarified that a widely circulated notification claiming schools would only open for four days is false. “Educational institutions will remain open five days a week,” he emphasized.

Minister Hayat also confirmed that classes would be conducted in-person only, ruling out any hybrid or online learning formats. “We cannot shift towards online classes; come to school and study,” he told students.

All schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab will resume normal operations for five days a week, ensuring continuity in academic schedules disrupted by recent closures.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged citizens to support the government’s austerity measures by avoiding unnecessary travel. The measures come in response to economic challenges linked to the Middle East crisis and rising fuel prices.

With the reopening of schools, students, teachers, and parents are preparing for a full week of in-person learning, signaling a return to normal academic routines in Punjab.
