Keir Starmer Iran conflict statement

Keir Starmer Says Iran-US-Israel Conflict “Not Our War”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that the recent conflict involving Iran, United States, and Israel was not Britain’s war. His remarks came during his visit to Saudi Arabia, where he spoke about regional stability and ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Starmer acknowledged that a ceasefire between the United States and Iran has been achieved but stressed that significant work remains to ensure long-term peace. He highlighted the importance of turning the temporary truce into a lasting and stable agreement.

The British prime minister emphasized that global leaders must continue working together to secure sustainable peace in the region. According to him, while the immediate tensions may have eased, the underlying issues still require serious diplomatic engagement.

He further explained that his primary responsibility was to protect the United Kingdom and its national interests. Starmer reiterated that Britain’s role is focused on stability rather than direct involvement in the conflict.

Addressing economic and strategic concerns, he pointed out that keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is crucial for global trade and energy supply. He added that the UK is working with multiple countries and will continue discussions with Saudi Arabia and other regional partners to maintain stability.
