UAE Announces Graphene Production and Export to UK

The UAE graphene production initiative has been officially announced, marking a major step in advanced materials manufacturing as the country prepares to produce and export graphene to the United Kingdom.

A partnership agreement has been signed between Sharjah-based Dana Gas and UK technology company Lividian, forming the foundation of the UAE graphene production project focused on high-tech industrial applications.

Graphene, a form of carbon, is widely regarded as one of the strongest and lightest materials in the world. The UAE graphene production plan aims to tap into its growing global demand across multiple industries.

This advanced material is used in batteries, construction, paints, medical devices, and sensors. The UAE graphene production project is expected to support innovation in both energy storage and high-performance manufacturing sectors.

Initial investment for the project is estimated between $2 million and $5 million, with plans to scale it up significantly in future phases. The UAE graphene production initiative could eventually expand to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Under the agreement, graphene will be manufactured in Sharjah and exported to the UK, where it will be used in cutting-edge technological development. The UAE graphene production partnership strengthens industrial ties between the two countries.

In the first phase, around 15 tons of graphene will be produced annually. Officials say the UAE graphene production project represents a strategic move toward positioning the UAE as a global hub for advanced materials.
