Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has distanced the party from Imran Khan’s official X account during a hearing at the Islamabad High Court. He told the court that PTI does not claim ownership of the account.
The hearing concerned a petition seeking the closure of the former prime minister’s X account. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the case following a petition filed by a citizen. Barrister Gohar appeared before the court along with lawyers representing Imran Khan and officials from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
During the proceedings, Justice Tahir told Barrister Gohar that he had not been summoned personally. The judge said the party chairman could have submitted a written response instead of appearing in court.
In response, Barrister Gohar stated that PTI did not claim Imran Khan’s official X account. His statement clarified the party’s position regarding the account during the proceedings. The case remains focused on the petition seeking its closure.
Barrister Gohar requested additional time to submit a detailed written response. He told the court that circumstances had changed and asked for an opportunity to prepare and file the party’s position. He also requested more time to provide a comprehensive reply.
Justice Tahir accepted the request and directed Barrister Gohar to submit his response in writing. The court granted the requested extension, allowing the PTI chairman time to present the party’s position formally.
The Islamabad High Court subsequently adjourned the hearing until November 23. The case regarding Imran Khan’s official X account will continue on that date, when further proceedings are expected. The available report does not specify the final outcome of the petition or whether the account will be closed.
