CM Punjab E-Bike Scheme: Over 1.3 Million Registrations

The CM Punjab E-Bike Scheme, launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has received an encouraging response from young people across the province. According to an official government statement, more than 1.3 million young people have registered for the initiative, while over 607,000 applications have been submitted. The response highlights the growing demand for affordable and convenient transportation among students and other young residents of Punjab.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed the relevant authorities to complete the scheme’s process as quickly as possible. The initiative aims to improve mobility for young people and make educational institutions more accessible, particularly for female students. The provincial government considers easier and safer transportation an important step toward supporting education and expanding opportunities for the younger generation.

Under the Punjab Electric Bike Scheme, 100,000 successful applicants will receive electric bikes through a balloting process, according to the announcement. The selection process is intended to determine the successful candidates from among eligible applicants. The initiative is designed to help young people manage their daily travel needs while offering a more accessible alternative to conventional transportation.

The scheme offers financial relief to successful applicants who qualify under its eligibility criteria. According to the official statement, eligible beneficiaries will pay monthly installments of just Rs. 3,000. The Punjab government will cover the interest charged on the electric bikes, helping reduce the financial burden on participating families and making the scheme more affordable for young people.

A key feature of the initiative is the plan to provide free driving training to successful female applicants, following the chief minister’s directions. The measure aims to help students develop the skills and confidence needed to travel independently and safely. By improving access to transportation, the scheme could help female students attend classes more conveniently and reduce their dependence on other travel arrangements.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif has emphasized that young people, especially female students, should have access to the resources they need to pursue their education and ambitions. Electric bikes are expected to make daily commuting easier and potentially reduce monthly transportation expenses.
