EV Bikes Demand Surges in Pakistan Amid Petrol Hike

EV bikes demand in Pakistan is rapidly increasing as soaring petrol prices push consumers toward more affordable transportation options. The recent hike in fuel costs has significantly boosted interest in electric scooters and bikes across the country.

Market sources reveal that EV bikes demand in Pakistan has become so strong that local inventories are running dry. Buyers are even paying “own money” ranging between Rs10,000 and Rs15,000 to secure early delivery, with waiting periods extending up to 30 days.

Popular models such as T5-L, Velax, and M3-H are currently facing shortages due to limited availability of completely knocked down (CKD) kits. Dealers report that supply constraints are unable to keep pace with the growing EV bikes demand in Pakistan.

Industry estimates suggest that around 40,000 units were sold in April alone, with 90% comprising electric scooters and 10% electric bikes. However, experts believe the actual EV bikes demand in Pakistan is even higher than current sales figures indicate.

Officials from leading EV companies state that increased import orders for CKD kits have been placed in China. Improved availability of electric vehicles is expected by late May or early June, helping stabilize the market.

Meanwhile, the government’s recent decision to raise petrol prices has further accelerated the shift toward electric mobility. Petrol now costs Rs399.86 per litre, while high-speed diesel has reached Rs399.58, making EV options more attractive.

Experts emphasize that supportive government policies and better product designs could further boost EV bikes demand in Pakistan. With the right incentives, annual sales could reach 500,000 units by the end of 2026, signaling a major تحول in the country’s transport sector.
