Security forces killed nine militants, including four senior commanders, during intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan, officials said. The North Waziristan operation was conducted under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign as security forces targeted militant positions in several areas of the district.
According to security sources, the operations were carried out in Palangzai, Nadeem Kot and Kot Khazri. The targeted positions were reportedly linked to Fitna al-Khawarij, which security authorities have identified as a militant network operating in the region.
Four commanders were among those killed during the operations. They were identified as Khalid Raza, Kamran, Musa and Maftoon. Security personnel also recovered a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition from the targeted locations, while several militant hideouts were destroyed.
The North Waziristan operation was launched after security agencies received intelligence about the presence and activities of militants in the area. The information helped security personnel identify and target positions associated with the armed group. Authorities described the four commanders as important figures involved in militant activities.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces following the operation. He commended personnel for killing nine militants, including the four commanders, and said the action reflected the professionalism and courage of the country’s security forces.
Zardari said efforts against militant networks would continue, including action against what he described as foreign supporters and local facilitators. He stressed that maintaining pressure on militant groups remained necessary to prevent further attacks and strengthen security in affected areas.
The North Waziristan operation is part of continued security efforts under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to countering militant networks across the country. Security operations are expected to continue as Pakistan works to eliminate terrorism and disrupt groups involved in violent activities.
