Security forces killed four militants during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district, while Pakistan Army Major Wajahat Waheed embraced martyrdom in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast during a clearance operation in Gwadar, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement, the military’s media wing said the intelligence-based operation was conducted on October 18 in Jatakabad, an area of Kalat district in Balochistan. Security personnel acted on intelligence information to target suspected militant elements operating in the area.
According to the ISPR, four militants were killed during the operation. Security forces also recovered a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition from the site. The operation formed part of ongoing efforts to counter militant activity and improve security in the region.
Separately, security forces launched clearance operations in the Shadi Kaur area of Gwadar. During the operation, an IED targeted a security forces convoy or team, according to the military statement. The explosion resulted in the martyrdom of Major Wajahat Waheed.
The ISPR said Major Wajahat Waheed was 34 years old and belonged to Lahore. His death occurred while security forces were conducting operations in the coastal district of Gwadar as part of their wider counterterrorism efforts in Balochistan.
The military’s media wing stated that security forces had effectively targeted militant hideouts. It added that clearance operations would continue to locate and eliminate other militants present in the area. The ongoing operations aim to address security threats and prevent further militant activity.
The ISPR reiterated the commitment of security forces and law enforcement agencies to continuing counterterrorism efforts under the national initiative Azm-e-Istehkam. The statement said the agencies remained determined to combat terrorism allegedly backed by external elements and to maintain peace and stability across the country.
