Police have submitted the Gul Plaza fire case challan to a Karachi court, naming the market association as primarily responsible for the incident. The investigation also raised questions over fire safety arrangements at the market.
The police challan includes statements from 87 witnesses. Investigators also examined fire safety measures at the building and shops as part of their inquiry into the blaze.
According to the challan, investigators found no negligence by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the fire brigade or Civil Defence. Police said they collected several pieces of evidence during the investigation, including CCTV footage.
The forensic report found no explosive material in the items examined. It also found no traces of any flammable liquid, while identifying some residual particles that remained after burning.
The Gul Plaza fire case investigation also highlighted alleged negligence by the market administration. The challan contains details about fire safety arrangements and statements concerning safety measures inside the shops and building.
Police submitted the challan to the court for further legal proceedings and judicial orders. The document brings together witness statements, forensic findings and other evidence gathered during the investigation.
The findings now place the market association and alleged safety lapses at the centre of the case. Further proceedings will determine how the evidence presented in the Gul Plaza fire case is treated by the court.
