Around 15.2 million people performed Umrah during the first quarter of the current Umrah season, according to figures released by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics.
The authority reported that the total number of Umrah pilgrims reached 15,233,767, highlighting the continued strong demand for the Islamic pilgrimage. The figures include both domestic and international pilgrims who travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
According to the latest statistics, approximately 9.5 million domestic pilgrims performed Umrah during the period. The data reflects the significant contribution of residents and citizens within Saudi Arabia to the overall number of Umrah performers.
Men accounted for 56.4 percent of the total Umrah pilgrims, while women represented 40.6 percent, according to the General Authority for Statistics. The figures demonstrate the participation of millions of Muslims from different backgrounds in the pilgrimage.
Saudi pilgrims accounted for 28.9 percent of the total number of Umrah performers. The remaining pilgrims included visitors and residents from outside Saudi Arabia who travelled to the Kingdom to perform the religious ritual.
The latest figures come as Saudi authorities continue preparations for the upcoming stages of the Umrah season. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has also announced important deadlines for pilgrims planning to travel to the Kingdom on Umrah visas.
According to the ministry, March 9, 2027 is the final date for issuing Umrah visas, while March 23, 2027 is the deadline for Umrah pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia.
