Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited PTCL has announced scheduled maintenance work on a key submarine internet cable, which may result in temporary service disruptions across the country.
According to the company, the maintenance work will begin on April 14 and continue until April 20. During this period, internet users may experience slow connectivity or service interruptions, particularly during evening hours.
PTCL stated that the repair work is being carried out with the assistance of an international cable consortium responsible for maintaining global undersea communication networks.
Submarine cables play a critical role in Pakistan’s internet infrastructure, as they connect the country to international data networks. Any maintenance or fault in these systems can directly impact bandwidth and connectivity.
The company has advised users that while efforts will be made to minimize disruption, some level of slowdown is expected during the maintenance window.
Authorities emphasized that the upgrade and repair work is necessary to ensure long-term stability and improved internet performance in the future.
This development comes at a time when demand for stable internet connectivity continues to rise across Pakistan, particularly for digital services, remote work, and online education.
