2 Terrorists Killed in Lakki Marwat Intelligence-Based Operation

Two terrorists were killed during a Lakki Marwat IBO conducted jointly by police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), police said. The operation took place in a mountainous area of Lakki Marwat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to district police spokesperson Qudratullah Khan, law enforcement agencies launched the operation after receiving credible information about the presence of suspected Fitna-al-Khawarij militants. The area falls within the jurisdiction of Lakki City police station.

Police said a fierce exchange of fire took place after officers surrounded the militants’ hideout. Two terrorists were killed during the gunfight. Authorities continued efforts to secure the area following the operation.

One of the men killed was identified as Mubashir, according to police. The CTD had been seeking him in several terrorism-related cases, including alleged involvement in bomb blasts. Police said they had not yet identified the second person killed in the operation.

The Lakki Marwat IBO was praised by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed. He commended police and CTD personnel for what he described as a successful and result-oriented operation.

The police chief said law enforcement agencies remained determined to eliminate terrorism from the province. Lakki Marwat and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have continued to face security challenges linked to militant violence.

Recent security data also showed a rise in violence across mainland Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during July. According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, the province recorded 154 deaths in July compared with 75 in June. Meanwhile, the merged districts recorded 79 deaths in July, down from 85 in June.
