KP Budget Consultation with Imran Khan

KP Budget Consultation with Imran Khan: CM Requests Jail Meeting Approval

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken a significant step ahead of the upcoming provincial budget by seeking permission for a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The request highlights the political importance of budget planning within the province.

According to official submissions, Chief Minister KP has approached the Islamabad High Court for permission to meet Imran Khan in prison. The application argues that the provincial budget is a sensitive constitutional and administrative matter that requires consultation.

The chief minister stated that the budget for the next financial year has already been prepared. However, he emphasized that discussions with the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf remain necessary before the budget receives final approval.

In the court application, it was argued that legal, constitutional, and humanitarian grounds support the request for a meeting. Provincial authorities believe that direct consultation would help finalize key policy decisions before the budget is presented.

Meanwhile, Adviser to the KP Finance Department Muzammil Aslam criticized the federal government’s development priorities. He claimed that only a limited number of projects from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been included in federal development plans.

According to Aslam, the province has not received adequate attention in the proposed federal budget. He alleged that development funding and project allocations remain insufficient despite the province’s growing infrastructure and economic needs.

The developments have added a new political dimension to budget discussions in Pakistan. As the new fiscal year approaches, attention will remain focused on court proceedings, provincial budget planning, and the broader debate over resource distribution between the federal and provincial governments.
