No Rain Expected in Karachi Today as Death Toll Reaches Six

Karachi weather update shows no chance of rain on Friday following heavy rainfall that hit the city on Thursday, causing widespread flooding and fatalities. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed that Karachi will remain dry today.

Rain-related deaths in the city have risen to six, after one more person succumbed to electrocution in Gulistan-i-Jauhar. Earlier, five people lost their lives due to electrocution and wall collapses caused by torrential rain.

The heavy rainfall on Thursday forced the city administration to declare an emergency. Rescue and police officials reported that the deaths occurred in separate incidents, highlighting the impact of the severe weather.

According to the PMD, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 16°C on Friday, with the maximum expected between 27-29°C. Humidity is at 76 percent, with winds blowing from the east. The department forecasts a partly cloudy and pleasant day.

Areas most affected by Thursday’s downpour included Nazimabad, which recorded 97.4 mm of rainfall, followed by Surjani Town (67 mm) and Keamari (66 mm). Bahria Town, Orangi Town, and PAF Faisal Base also received 50 mm or more rainfall.

The PMD had previously forecast rain and thunderstorms in Karachi and other parts of Sindh from April 2-4 due to a new westerly system originating from Balochistan.

Despite the rain ceasing today, authorities continue to advise caution in flood-affected areas. The city remains under a rain emergency as clean-up and safety measures continue.
