Pakistan Hosts US-Iran Talks Amid Peace Efforts

Pakistan has intensified diplomatic engagement ahead of the US-Iran talks in Islamabad, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reviewing ongoing peace efforts. The high-level meeting signals Islamabad’s growing role as a regional mediator.

During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s House, both leaders expressed satisfaction over the gradual easing of regional tensions. They acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives, which have contributed to creating a more stable environment ahead of the US-Iran talks in Islamabad.

Field Marshal Asim Munir, who also serves as Chief of Defence Forces, briefed the prime minister on the progress of mediation efforts. The discussion focused on ensuring that dialogue between the United States and Iran proceeds smoothly and constructively.

Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and upholding the ceasefire during this critical phase. They stressed that all stakeholders must demonstrate restraint to ensure the success of the US-Iran talks in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the cooperation shown by all parties involved. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating a peaceful and negotiated resolution, offering full support to the visiting delegations.

The talks are scheduled to begin on April 10 in Islamabad, with high-profile delegations expected from both countries. Iranian representatives will be led by senior political leadership, while the United States delegation will include key officials.

In preparation for the talks, strict security measures have been implemented in Islamabad’s Red Zone. Authorities have declared a two-day public holiday, expanded security boundaries, and deployed military, Rangers, and police personnel to ensure a safe and secure environment.
