Pakistan Rejects UK Envoy Statement on Border Situation

The Pakistan Afghanistan border situation came under discussion after Pakistan’s Foreign Office strongly rejected comments made by a British envoy, terming them one-sided and disconnected from ground realities. The statement triggered a diplomatic response from Islamabad.

According to the Foreign Office, the remarks made by the UK representative lacked a proper understanding of the complex security environment along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border situation. Officials said the comments did not accurately reflect the facts on the ground.

The ministry stated that despite Pakistan’s goodwill gesture of announcing a temporary ceasefire in March 2026, cross-border attacks and infiltration attempts from Afghan territory continued. It added that such incidents have posed serious security challenges for Pakistan.

Officials further claimed that these incidents included unprovoked firing and militant attacks, resulting in civilian casualties. Pakistan maintains that it has consistently shown restraint while dealing with threats emerging from across the border.

The Foreign Office also said that targeted operations were conducted against militant hideouts and support networks. These actions, it noted, were aimed at preventing further infiltration and ensuring national security in the Pakistan Afghanistan border situation.

Responding to allegations of civilian harm from Afghan authorities, Pakistan termed the claims baseless and unsupported by evidence. It urged all sides to avoid misinformation that could further escalate tensions.

Pakistan has called on the international community to view the Pakistan Afghanistan border situation in light of its sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and to adopt a balanced and fact-based approach.
