Saudi Arabia flight cancellations have increased following deadly weekend attacks on Riyadh airport by Yemen’s Houthi movement. Several international airlines have suspended services or extended existing restrictions, disrupting air travel across the region. According to a notice issued on Monday, Riyadh airport will remain closed until October 17, 2026.
The disruptions come amid wider regional travel problems following the start of the US-Israeli war with Iran. Airlines are reviewing their schedules and adjusting operations as security concerns affect routes connecting Saudi Arabia with other international destinations.
Air France-KLM has extended its suspension of flights to and from Riyadh until the end of October. India’s Air India has suspended services involving the Saudi capital until October 15. Budget carrier Akasa Air has also halted flights to Jeddah and Riyadh until October 13.
Cathay Pacific has postponed the planned resumption of its Hong Kong–Dubai and Hong Kong–Riyadh routes until January 31, 2027. US airline Delta Air Lines has delayed its planned Atlanta–Riyadh service until March 2027, reflecting continued uncertainty over regional flight operations.
Etihad Airways has cancelled flights between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, along with 10 flights to Dammam and Jeddah, until October 19. Bahrain’s Gulf Air has cancelled services to and from Riyadh from October 12 to October 17. India’s IndiGo has extended cancellations on routes serving Riyadh and Dammam until October 15.
Germany’s Lufthansa Group has cancelled all flights to Riyadh until October 16. Philippine Airlines has extended the suspension of its Riyadh services until November 29. Qatar Airways has also temporarily suspended flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam, although no end date was specified in the announcement.
Passengers planning to travel to Saudi Arabia or connect through affected airports should check directly with their airlines for updated schedules, rebooking options and refund policies. The restrictions vary by carrier and destination, so travellers should confirm their flight status before leaving for the airport.
