Ali Amin Gandapur Criticizes Salman Akram Raja’s Statement, Calls for Evidence

PESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has described Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja’s recent statement as regrettable and irresponsible, saying such remarks could damage unity within the party.

In a statement, Gandapur called for clarity regarding allegations of non-democratic decision-making and an alleged group conspiracy. He urged those making such claims to identify the individuals involved and specify which members of the provincial assembly were allegedly seeking to decide the provincial party president or the next chief minister without the approval of PTI founder Imran Khan and the party’s political committee.

Gandapur said allegations of behind-the-scenes manoeuvring should be supported by concrete evidence. He also called for clarification regarding claims that certain individuals were paving the way for the imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to his statement, those making such allegations should present the relevant evidence rather than making general accusations against party members.

The former chief minister also called for the official notification concerning the reported appointment of Ali Asghar Khan as acting provincial president of PTI.

He maintained that if such an appointment had been made, the formal document should be presented to establish the decision’s status and provide clarity regarding the party’s organisational arrangements.

Gandapur questioned why elected representatives should be labelled traitors, conspirators or undemocratic if the PTI parliamentary party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is seeking a constitutional and political solution to the current crisis through consultation.

He asked who had authorised a small number of individuals to make such accusations against elected representatives. His remarks highlighted the importance of consultation, evidence and transparency in resolving disagreements within the party.
