Islamabad: Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah, where he reviewed the country’s defence production capabilities and witnessed trials of weapons and ammunition designed and manufactured locally.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit focused on POF’s production capacity, export potential and contribution to strengthening Pakistan’s indigenous defence industrial base. The field marshal was briefed on the organisation’s ongoing activities and its role in supporting the country’s defence requirements.
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir was informed about the development and manufacturing of various categories of military equipment. Officials also briefed him on efforts aimed at improving local production capabilities and upgrading existing defence products through indigenous expertise and technology.
The military chief also observed practical tests and trials of several weapons and ammunition developed and manufactured within the country. The demonstrations provided an overview of the capabilities being developed as part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to enhance self-reliance in the defence sector.
According to ISPR, Field Marshal Asim Munir was also briefed on progress toward transforming POF into a corporate entity. Officials highlighted initiatives focused on increasing domestic manufacturing, modernising production systems and enhancing the organisation’s ability to meet both national requirements and potential export demand.
Two new industrial plants are also being installed at POF Wah, with production expected to begin by the end of the current year. The projects are aimed at expanding production capacity and supporting the long-term development of Pakistan’s defence manufacturing infrastructure.
At the conclusion of the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated the Pakistan Army’s commitment to greater self-reliance, local production and technological innovation in the defence sector.
