Former Pakistani cricketers have raised serious concerns over the manner in which allegations involving former Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan are being handled, questioning the reported lack of concrete evidence and a formal written charge against the cricketer.
Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar criticised the process, saying that targeting Rizwan without substantial evidence could amount to making him a scapegoat. His comments have added to growing questions surrounding the nature and handling of the inquiry involving the Pakistan cricketer.
Former Test cricketer Mohsin Khan also expressed concern over what he described as unproven allegations related to fixing and gambling. He said allegations of this nature can have a serious impact on a player’s reputation, particularly when they have not been established through a formal process.
Former Pakistan fast bowler Junaid Khan also questioned the procedure being followed in the matter. He said Rizwan had not, so far, been provided with a written allegation or formal charge sheet, raising concerns about transparency in the inquiry.
According to the information available, the ongoing inquiry has also affected Rizwan’s personal plans. It has been reported that the former Pakistan captain had to cancel a previously scheduled Umrah trip because of the inquiry.
The criticism comes at a time when no specific legal or contractual violation by Rizwan has publicly been identified in connection with the matter. The absence of publicly disclosed details has led former cricketers to call for greater clarity regarding the allegations and the process being followed.
