Gaza Death Toll Nears 73,000 as New Israeli Strikes Hit Southern Enclave

The Gaza death toll continued to rise on Monday after two Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes targeting areas in Khan Younis, according to Palestinian media reports. The latest attacks come amid ongoing military operations and growing international concern over conditions in the besieged territory.

Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that an Israeli airstrike struck a group of civilians in the al-Attar area of al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis. The attack reportedly killed two people and left several others injured.

In a separate incident, three Palestinians were wounded when a drone strike targeted a vehicle near Asdaa City, northwest of Khan Younis. Another reported strike hit an area near Salah al-Din Road in central Gaza, adding to concerns over continued violence across the enclave.

According to Gaza health authorities, the Gaza death toll has reached 72,980 since the conflict began in October 2023. The number of injured people has climbed to more than 173,000, reflecting the scale of the humanitarian crisis facing the territory.

Health officials stated that hospitals received additional casualties during the past 24 hours. They also said many victims remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings or in locations that emergency teams cannot easily access due to ongoing hostilities.

Beyond Gaza, reports indicated that Israeli forces conducted operations across the occupied West Bank, where 11 Palestinians were reportedly detained. Local sources also reported increased military activity and damage to private property in several communities.

As the Gaza death toll approaches 73,000, international organizations and foreign governments continue to express concern about the humanitarian situation. Calls for civilian protection, humanitarian access and efforts to reduce violence remain central to diplomatic discussions surrounding the conflict.
