Gwadar Port Sees Surge in Activity as New Transshipment Vessel Arrives

Pakistan’s Gwadar Port continues to gain strategic importance as another transshipment vessel successfully docked, reflecting increasing maritime activity.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced that the vessel MV Yuan Hang Wei has berthed at Gwadar, carrying significant cargo destined for regional markets.

According to officials, the ship holds approximately 34,000 tons of bulk cargo along with an additional 20,000 tons of goods. The cargo includes shipments linked to Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.

The minister emphasized that global shipping companies are increasingly showing confidence in Gwadar Port, positioning it as a future hub for regional trade and logistics.

To further boost activity, the government has introduced major tariff reductions at the port. These measures aim to attract international transit traffic and enhance competitiveness.

Berthing charges have been reduced by 25%, while transshipment container charges have been cut by 40%. Additionally, port charges on containerized cargo have been lowered by up to 31%.

In a further incentive, general cargo at Gwadar Port will be allowed free storage for one month, making it more attractive for global trade operators and logistics firms.
