Hina Dilpazeer Bulbulay fans may be surprised to learn that the actor was not originally part of the sitcom’s main cast. Ayesha Omar revealed that Dilpazeer was initially invited as a guest actor for just one episode. Her appearance as Momo proved so popular that the showrunners later turned the character into a regular part of the series.
Speaking on Good Morning Pakistan on Wednesday, Omar recalled how Bulbulay was different when it first premiered in 2009. The original cast featured Nabeel Zafar as Nabeel, Ayesha Omar as Khoobsurat and Mehmood Aslam as Mehmood. According to Omar, the first 26 episodes were planned around these three characters.
Omar explained that Dilpazeer was invited to play Nabeel’s mother in a single episode. The episode received strong ratings and quickly connected with viewers. Following its success, the production team decided to bring Momo back as a recurring character rather than keeping her appearance limited to one episode.
The addition of Momo also changed the direction of the sitcom’s storyline. Omar said the original three characters were living together in an apartment without marriage being part of the story. After Dilpazeer’s character joined the show, Nabeel and Khoobsurat eventually got married, while Momo also became connected to Mehmood’s character.
Omar said these changes transformed the three-character setup into a family dynamic that became central to Bulbulay. The sitcom’s characters and relationships developed significantly after Momo became part of the regular cast. Her distinctive personality helped establish the character as one of the show’s most recognizable figures.
The actor also revealed that she had initially been unsure about taking Bulbulay as a long-term project. She said her mother had concerns about the role at the time. However, Omar decided to continue with the sitcom after Dilpazeer joined the cast and the show began gaining wider popularity.
Bulbulay eventually became a long-running Pakistani sitcom and reached its 17th year in 2026. Omar’s revelation offers a look at how an initially planned guest appearance became an important part of the show’s evolution. Momo’s introduction ultimately influenced both the storyline and the family structure that audiences came to know.
