The government has explained how citizens can receive the Pakistan petrol subsidy of Rs100 per litre under its new relief scheme. The programme will cover owners of two-wheelers, three-wheelers and vehicles with engines up to 800cc.
Minister for IT Shaza Fatima shared details during a press conference alongside Federal Ministers Atta Tarar and Ali Pervez Malik in Islamabad. She said eligible users would receive relief on a specified quantity of petrol under the programme.
According to the minister, owners of two-wheelers and three-wheelers can receive relief on up to 20 litres of petrol. Owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc will qualify for relief on up to 30 litres under the Pakistan petrol subsidy programme.
The registration process will take place through SMS. Eligible users must send “REG”, their CNIC number, the first letter of their province and the vehicle or bike registration date to 9771 from the SIM registered against their CNIC.

After completing registration, users must send “TOK” to 9771 when they go to purchase petrol. They will receive a token, which they must show at the petrol station to claim the subsidy under the Pakistan petrol subsidy scheme.
Shaza Fatima urged citizens not to share their CNIC numbers or other personal information with anyone. She said the government would not ask citizens for additional data or charges and would address errors in the system as they arise.
The government said Islamabad residents can start receiving petrol relief from midnight between September 14 and 15. Citizens across Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, can access the Pakistan petrol subsidy from midnight between September 16 and 17.
