Peshawar School Roof Collapse FIR Names Owners

The investigation into the Peshawar school roof collapse has taken a new turn, with a First Information Report (FIR) naming the school owners, shareholders and construction contractor. The tragedy in Dir Colony claimed 35 lives, including 33 children and two female teachers, leaving families devastated.

According to the FIR registered at Agha Mir Jani Police Station, the roofs of a nursery classroom on the second floor and a classroom on the ground floor collapsed. The report alleges that substandard construction materials were used in the building, raising serious questions about its safety.

The FIR states that the school occupied 16 marlas of land owned by Waheed and Javed. The building was constructed after the land was acquired on lease in 2024. It also mentions previous complaints about deteriorating walls and roofs, which were allegedly ignored by the school owners. An initial report by the deputy commissioner also identified concerns over construction quality.

Grief continued in Dir Colony on the second day after the Peshawar school roof collapse. Families struggled to cope with the deaths of their children and the teachers. Meanwhile, the administration of Lady Reading Hospital confirmed that all injured victims had recovered sufficiently to be discharged. Hospital spokesperson Muhammad Asim said the facility received 33 deceased victims and 20 injured people on the day of the incident.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi visited the affected school and promised action against anyone found responsible for negligence. He said the investigation would examine the roles of the school owners and relevant government departments. He also criticised the previous administration for failing to conduct school audits.

The governor announced financial assistance of Rs1 million for the family of each deceased child and Rs200,000 for each injured child. He said authorities would complete the investigation into the Peshawar school roof collapse within four days. Kundi stressed that the government would not restrict its response to a routine inquiry.

The governor criticised previous investigations in which committees were formed but allegedly failed to deliver meaningful results. He said the authorities would examine the responsibilities of everyone connected to the school. The investigation is expected to establish how the building collapsed and whether negligence contributed to the deaths.
