Seven Killed in Gujarat Highway Crash in India

A Gujarat highway accident has left seven people dead after a speeding vehicle crashed into a stationary trailer in India’s Gujarat state. The incident occurred on a service road near Bhavnagar.

According to Indian media reports, the crash took place on a highway in Bhavnagar district. The victims were travelling from Bhavnagar to Alang, where they were reportedly employed at a shipyard.

Police said the accident occurred at around 10am on a service road alongside the Bhavnagar-Somnath National Highway. The vehicle was travelling at speed when it struck the rear section of a trailer parked on the service road.

Officials said six people died at the scene following the collision. Another passenger was seriously injured and later died while receiving treatment, bringing the death toll in the Gujarat highway accident to seven.

Witnesses said the impact was severe and caused the parked trailer to move forward. The collision also scattered the victims on the highway, while the vehicle carrying them was completely destroyed.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene after the crash. The circumstances surrounding the collision are being examined, including the position of the parked trailer and the speed of the vehicle before the impact.

The Gujarat highway accident is the latest deadly road crash reported in the Indian state. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, while further details about the victims and the circumstances leading to the collision are expected to emerge.
