Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has dismissed speculation about the division of Sindh, stating that the province will never be divided. He made the remarks while speaking to the media at the inauguration ceremony of the Munawar Chorangi Underpass in Karachi, alongside Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
Addressing the event, Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had carried out more development projects in Karachi than any other government. He highlighted the construction of numerous underpasses, bridges and other infrastructure schemes aimed at improving traffic flow and public convenience across the city.
The minister also referred to criticism that Karachi is among the world’s worst cities, rejecting the claim. He argued that if the city were in such poor condition, people from across Pakistan would not continue to move there in search of employment and better opportunities. Describing Karachi as “Mini Pakistan,” he said the city belongs to people from all regions of the country and that no one can be prevented from settling there.
Shah said the city’s mayor and town chairmen are working around the clock to improve municipal services and complete development projects. He acknowledged that complaints had been received from some areas regarding delayed or incomplete work but added that the authorities take immediate action whenever such issues are reported.
Responding to a question about discussions surrounding the division of Sindh, the provincial minister said some individuals occasionally raise the issue, but the government does not consider such statements serious. Instead, he said, its focus remains on public welfare and development initiatives across the province.
Reiterating his position, Shah stated that there was no possibility of Sindh being divided and that the provincial government would continue implementing projects to improve infrastructure and civic services. He added that efforts would remain focused on addressing public concerns, enhancing urban facilities and ensuring development work continues in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.
